Short Description:

This project analyzes the performance of an alpha configuration Stirling engine generator using a parabolic reflector as a heat source. The parabolic reflector functions due to the geometric properties of the paraboloidal shape, any incoming ray that is parallel to the axis of the dish will be focused at a point. And the dish that is used in this project can generate around 350oC – 600oC. The assembly consists of an alpha Stirling engine and a parabolic reflector placed on a custom-made base along with a DC motor. A Window reflective film is used as the reflector on the parabolic dish.

Idea Details:

Solar-powered Stirling Engine can be one of the most vital and revolutionary mediums of harvesting energy. The device only needs solar energy directly from the sun and a parabolic reflector dish to concentrate sun rays to generate sufficient heat to run the engine. A Stirling engine is a heat engine that is operated by periodic compression and expansion of air due to the difference of temperature. The mechanical work done by the engine can be transformed into electrical energy using a generator. The electricity produced in the process can be used in household usages and can be stored for further use although it depends on the weather conditions of the area. As the process needs sunlight, there must be a clear and open place to get enough light and heat to run the engine. Thus, it is not suitable for polar zones but efficient in deserted areas. The medium of energy conversion has zero Carbon emission and environment friendly. The world currently demands eco-friendly sources of energy being concerned about climate change. Also, the process is economical and user-friendl
